The colonies formed by the isolate appeared light orange to dark orange on Czapek yeast extract agar, its conidiophores were rarely branched, smooth-walled, measuring 109.9‒864.8 × 4.1‒7.4 µm, with its smoothwalled conidia being 2.3‒4.6 × 1.9‒3.5 µm in size. Phylogenetic analysis using concatenated sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions and the Mcm7, RPB2 and Tsr1 genes confirmed the affiliation of strain KNUF-22-016 with H. ingelheimensis.
