LEAF 팀은 차량 내부와 외부 사이의 온도 차이를 활용하여 전기에너지를 생성한다. 이는 온도 차이가 있는 반도체를 이용하여 전기를 생성하는 열전 발전기를 통해 가능하다. 팀 LEAF는 제품의 와이어프레임 설계를 위해 4Dframe Kit을 사용한 후, 주어진 조건에서 열기관의 타당성을 증명하기 위해 전자기기를 활용하였다. 본 제품은 촉매 변환기 배출구 근처에 설치되며, 대부분의 하이브리드 차량에 장착될 수 있도록 설계되어 있다. 지속 가능하고 환경친화적인 제품을 창출함과 동시에, 본 설계는 4Dframe과 같은 단순한 재료를 사용하여 STEAM 분야에 관심 있는 초등·중등 학생들이 새로운 기계를 고안하고 개선하는 데 영감을 줄 것이다. 팀 LEAF는 하이브리드 전기자동차의 에너지 낭비와 부피가 큰 냉각 시스템 문제를 해결하는 데 열기관이 해법이 될 수 있음을 증명하고자 한다.","absEn":"Hybrid electric vehicles and vehicles generally waste a lot of energy in the form of heat. This problem is usually solved using bulky engine cooling systems, often using fans and engine coolant that must be replaced. Through thorough research of heat engines and the prototyping a new engine cooling component, LEAF (Lightweight Engine Automatic Fan) aims to reduce heat energy waste in the form of heat produced by hybrid electric vehicles. LEAF team uses the heat differential between the inside and outside of the vehicle to generate electrical energy. This is possible with thermoelectric power generators, which use semiconductors with a temperature differential to generate electricity. Team LEAF used the 4Dframe Kit to design a wireframe of the product before using electronics to prove the viability of a heat engine under the given conditions. The product will sit near the outlet of the catalytic converter and should be built to fit most hybrid vehicles. In addition to creating a sustainable and environmentally friendly product, the design will inspire more school-aged children to get involved in STEAM by using simple materials such as the 4Dframe to improve upon and invent new machines.
